    Castro Valley Girls Softball League

Have you thought to yourself - "Softball season is over? And we were just getting good and actually playing softball" - Well the fun and progress doesn't have to end. Summer ball is starting to gear up and tryouts will be posting soon.

However, summer is only as good as the coaches, players and parents that are involved. Myth's Busted

    • Myth #1 - "I have only coached rec ball - coaching summer I will be way over my head". BUSTED: Not at all in fact you get to learn a lot more about the game being involved during the summer. With the onslaught of year round travel ball the intensity of the summer teams has been geared way back. Everyone started somewhere as every Synergy Coach started in Rec.
    • Myth #2 - "I will have no free time" BUSTED: Not true coaches are in charge of the schedule, typically practice twice during the week and a couple sundays prior to tournaments starting. 8 tournaments is a busy summer, but 5-6 tournaments allows several free weekends for the family. Some tournament locations are at destination spots in California - Monterey, Santa Cruz, Tahoe, Napa, Roseville,  making those tournaments fun for the whole family. Summer Tournament season only runs through the last weekend in July.
    • Myth #3 - "Its really expensive" BUSTED: Considering average cost of camps are a little over $300/wk, look as Synergy as a softball camp that runs for 2 months at the cost of 2 weeks worth of camps.
    • Myth #4 - "I've never participated in anything like this before, I will not be able to manage this effectively" BUSTED: Synergy has lots of resources to help you from practice planning and field permits to getting the low down on uniform and schwag ordering to registering for tournaments.

Please if you are curious about summer ball, please feel free to reach out to us Stuart Siu or myself Rich Klemmer to get more details.

      Majors Division Interleague Update

CVGSL is committed to providing the girls of CVGSL with the best softball experience possible, with opportunities ranging from house-rec participation to interleague competition all the way up to the Synergy travel program. We are excited to announce the 2018 Majors Division Interleague roster as well as the eligibility and selection criteria:

      1) Players ranking in the top 150% of players (excluding pitching ratings) needed to form a 12-player roster are eligible. For example, if CVGSL is forming one interleague, the top 18 ranked players are eligible for interleague play; if two teams are being formed, the top 36 ranked players are eligible).

      2) For every team being formed, each interleague coach will be limited to selecting only 2 of the top 4 rated pitchers (if two teams are formed, only 4 of the top 8 rated pitchers can be selected).

      3) If an experienced catcher rates beyond the top 150% but not lower than the top 175% of players needed to form a team, that player will also be eligible for selection. Only one such player can be selected per team, and will need to be approved by the Board.

      4) Interleague coaches will select their teams based on the criteria above after but no later than one week following CVGSL's make up ratings day.
